Student Assistant- Purdue Energetics Research Center

Job Summary Essential Duties:

The Purdue Energetics Research Center is seeking a motivated student to assist in communications and administrative duties and tasks related to the many research activities and events involving the center. The ideal candidate will excel in communication and organization skills, as they assist in interviewing faculty/staff/students for content and materials for various communications tools. They will also assist in various project management, event planning, and other administrative tasks as assigned. The student for this position will have 10 to 15 hours of work each week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Assist in drafting content for various communication channels, including The Blast newsletter, social media, and the PERC website.
  • Media Management: Help interview faculty and staff for content and help coordinate media with communications team.
  • Event Planning: Help plan PERC events, coordinating with stakeholders and planning under staff direction.
  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate program (Business, Engineering, Communications)
  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and basic graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Attributes: Creative, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team with diverse (including multidisciplinary teams). Responsible and hard worker, willing to ask “What can I do next?”
