Prof. Erk’s Soft Materials Group is hiring a Summer 2026 undergraduate research assistant (paid, 20+ hrs/week) to work on an innovative project focused on upcycling absorbent waste materials for use in concrete. This position is ideal for MSE sophomores and juniors interested in both hard and soft materials, sustainability, and the circular economy. Students will gain hands-on experience with cementitious materials and a behind-the-scenes look at an early-stage startup translating research into real-world impact.
